The deadly disease that took the lives of thousands mostly in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea – also hitting Nigeria, the DRC, the United States and other countries, is back
The epidemic has been declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo after three people died in the country.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), one of the three deaths have been definitely confirmed to be a case of the deadly haemorrhaging fever.
The WHO said the outbreak affects an equatorial forest region in Bas-Uele province, bordering Central African Republic.
The last Ebola outbreak in Congo in 2014 was quickly contained and killed 49 people according to official figures.
This latest ‘outbreak’ comes three years after the last outbreak of the disease, which was the deadliest in history, killing over 11,000 people.
