“I’m still coughing and sneezing blood after three weeks” - 5 major things Mercy Aigbe said in new interview

 

Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe has been the subject of a marriage controversy that is characterized by domestic violence, abuse and allegations of cheating.

In an exclusive interview with Broadway TV, Mercy Aigbe told of how and why she has had to cope with abuse from her husband, Lanre Gentry before finally going public few weeks ago.

Here are five major details from the interview:

1.Mercy Aigbe had been consistently battered by her husband and it didn’t start recently. She revealed that Lanre Gentry has violent tendencies not only towards her but anyone who crosses his path. She told of how he once violently attacked a househelp who reported the matter to the police.



2. The incident that finally led to the end of her marriage started with an argument over an event that she needed to attend that would not permit her to pick him up from a certain location. According to her, “Immediately, I opened the door, he kept beating me. I was begging him and asking why he was beating me. He said he would destroy my face such that no make-up would fix it and destroy my career. He was acting like someone who was possessed. I told him “Lanre, mo ma bi mo fun e (I have a child for you)”.

3.When the news first broke, reports making rounds had it that Lanre Gentry cheated on his wife with a younger lady she considers a friend and sister. According to her, this was not the first occasion. Mr Gentry had been in sexual relationships with other very familiar ladies, even her Personal Assistants.

4.On the extent of the damage done, Mercy Aigbe said, “I’m still coughing and sneezing blood even after three weeks“. She would have to go to surgery to help her see normally as her orbits have been broken.

5.Mercy Aigbe finally made the decision to leave their home after this last beating because she thought she was going to die. Before now though, all she wanted was to leave temporarily while her husband sought help in form of therapy.
