#ConstitutionReview: Senate passes #NotTooYoungToRun, Independent Candidacy, Immunity for Legislators Bills

On Wednesday, 26th July, the Nigerian Senate passed thirty-three bills as part of a Review of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The bills included very significant and concrete steps that should elevate Youth participation in politics, women in Government, and a greater pace of administration by the Executive.

Among the Bills passed were the Not Too Young to Run Bill; Independent candidacy; immunity for legislators for WORDS spoken on the floor of the legislative chambers; creation of states and boundary adjustment; local government and State Houses of Assembly autonomy; among others.


97 of the 109 senators were in attendance, and the e-voting system was used.
