Anti-capitalist protesters vowing to disrupt G20 summit in Hamburg have just one message (Photos)

Anti-capitalist protesters who aim to disrupt the G20 summit for President Trump and other world leaders in Hamburg have just one message: “Welcome to Hell”.

According to Reuters, thousands of protesters from around Europe are pouring into the city to join big demonstrations later.

The Police are said to have expected around 100,000 protesters in Hamburg, some 8,000 of who are ready to commit violence. This would pose a huge challenge for the security teams assigned to secure leaders of the world’s 20 biggest economies hosted by German Chancellor Merkel.

The protesters say the G20 has failed to solve many of the issues threatening world peace, including climate change, worsening inequality, and violent conflicts. There have been small demonstrations this week but they have been relatively peaceful. Over 7,000 young people marched and waved placards around the city denouncing capitalism and G20 leaders.

Many locals are unhappy and find Merkel’s decision to hold the summit in the center of Germany’s second-largest city worrisome.

The St Pauli football club also offered 200 sleeping places to protesters as “a clear signal for human rights, freedom of expression and the right to demonstrate”. Over 20,000 police officers will also be on duty to watch the main demonstration, dubbed “Welcome to Hell” by the alliance of anti-capitalist groups who organised it.
