JAY-Z changes his name as he announces new album, 4.44

Rapper and recent father of twins Jay Z has announced his next album 4:44 to be released on the 30th of June, 2017.

The news comes a day after him and his wife Beyoncé welcomed the birth of their twins.

A 30-second clip of a short film starring Mahershala Ali and Danny Glover surfaced earlier in the month causing fans to speculate about a new Jay Z album.

4.44, Jay Z’s 13th studio album, will premiere and will be exclusive to Tidal for as long as Jay Z and other decision makers want.

Plus being a new dad and cooking a new album, Jay Z has changed his name.

Now it seems like he had so much in the offing but didn’t want to steal his twins’ shine so he waited for their arrival before letting stuff out…

Jay Z has brought back the hyphen to his name and will now capitalize all the letters.

The music legend dropped the hyphen in his name in 2013 and officially became known as “Jay Z” - but has taken it on again with caps.

According to a short statement made available by his publicist to Entertainment Weekly:
“Jay Z” is now a relic of the past, consigned to the dustbin of history. In its place stands JAY-Z, now with the hyphen back in its place and the whole name in all-caps.
Long live JAY-Z.
So far the 47-year-old rapper’s Wikipedia page has been updated and international media outlets have switched to the new name.

So it’s JAY-Z, henceforth.
