"They killed my son” – Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi says after her 15-year-old nephew get drown in pool

The 15-year-old nephew of the Nigerian Super Falcon’s coach, Florence Omagbemi, has died.

According to a media officer for the Nigeria U-23 team, Timi Ebikagboro, Samson Omagbemi drowned at a hotel swimming pool in Delta State on Wednesday, The Net reports.

Ebikagboro said in a statement that a teacher had led the JSS 3 student of Challenge International School, Kolokolo Udu Road, Warri, to the Golden Tulip hotel along with his mates for an exam after-party.

Two of the students, Samson inclusive, died while swimming in a pool at the hotel.

Ebikagboro questioned the teacher’s decision, writing on his Facebook, “How on earth will a teacher take JSS students to a hotel in Effurun for an after exam party and in the end two of the innocent students got killed and thrown into the hotel pool, one of two dead kid is the ‘son’ of our own Florence Omagbemi, Super Falcons head coach.”

Meanwhile, Florence Omagbemi, has said that her  nephew was killed.

Omagbemi said she adopted Samson after her sister died six months after his birth.

Omagbemi told the TheCable that the circumstances of Samson’s death made the tragedy hard to accept.

“I feel so shattered that they killed my son,” she said.

“What kind of after school party will a teacher organize for 15-year-olds without the consent of their parents?

“To make matter worse, the teacher took the young students to a hotel to celebrate the completion of their JSS exams.

“I believe the boys were purposely taken to the hotel to be killed. This is too much for me to even think of or bear.

“There is nothing the teacher who took the students to the hotel for an after exams party will tell me that I will believe because they kill them on purpose.

“The party was on Monday and the boys had been missing since then. My family reported to the police since that Monday and repeatedly went to the hotel where they had the party without finding the boys till Wednesday.

“It means they were killed and later dumped into the pool when my family kept going there. How can two bodies be in a hotel pool from Monday and never noticed till Wednesday?

“And they took the bodies to the mortuary without even contacting the police or the school? This is too much for me.”
