Aisha Buhari reveals shocking details about Aso Rock clinic

The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha has criticised the management of the State House Clinic .

Speaking Monday at a stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, Nutrition, Child Advocacy and Health and Nutrition, RMNCAH+N, at the State House, Abuja, Aisha said she recently fell ill and was advised to travel to London for treatment, but she refused.

“I called the Aso Clinic to find out if they have an X-Ray machine, they said it’s not working. In the end, I had to go to a hospital owned and operated by foreigners 100 percent.“

“They don’t have a single syringe there. What is the purpose of the buildings if there are no equipment there to work with?”

“You can imagine what happens across the states to governors wives if this will happen to me in Abuja.”

The Aso Rock Clinic management said last week it was short of funds for major projects and purchases and would demand the commercialisation of the clinic’s operations for efficiency.

The failings of Buhari's government has reached a level where members of his family have to speak out in a bid to save their face, so as not to partake in any blame game that might arise in the nearest future.

Zahra Buhari had also last week taken to her Instagram page to criticise the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Jalal Arabi, for his inability to equip the clinic with as little as Paracetamol, even with a budget of N3 billion.

Zahra, the most vocal and cosmopolitan of the president’s children took to her Snapchat page on September 29, 2017, to spill the beans on the rot in Aso Rock clinic which the state house Permanent secretary Jalal Arabi once termed “a centre of excellence while defending his 2016 N3 billion budget at the National Assembly”.

Firing salvo through her Snapchat handle @mrs_zmbi, she called out the permanent secretary of the state house saying “More than N3 billion budgeted for the State House clinic and workers there don’t have the equipment to work with? Where is the money going to? Medication only stocked once since the beginning of the year? Why? State House Permanent Secretary please answer. And this is the worst part of her outburst “Why isn’t there simple Paracetamol, gloves, syringes… Why do patients/staff have to buy what they need in the state house clinic?”

The Aso Villa Clinic was established to cater for the medical needs of the president, the vice president, their families and presidential aides. But the sad part is that basic medical consumables are not available to treat anyone in that hospital despite billions of Naira being budgeted for it.

At a time the federal government is accusing the labour unions in the health sector of sabotage due to their recent successive strikes, the alarm raised by Aisha and Zahra Buhari has shown to us that the real saboteur of our health sector is nobody other than the federal government of Nigeria.
