Nigeria has a history of accidental presidents – Bishop Kukah (Watch)

The Catholic Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, at The Platform, organised by the Covenant Christian Centre, on October 3, 2017, with the theme “Putting together the jigsaw pieces that form Nigeria” said Nigeria has had a long history of “accidental presidents” – starting 1999.

President Muhammadu Buhari came up after he had said he was no longer contesting, as there was no other person that could come from the North under the platform of the then formed All Progressives Congress (APC): 2015 – till date.

Goodluck Jonathan was content with being Deputy governor/governor, Obasanjo called him out to become Vice President and he became President in the event of the death of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua: 2009 – 2015.

Late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had already applied to go teach Chemistry in Ahmadu Bello University but was “installed” by Olusegun Obasanjo: 2007 – 2009

Olusegun Obasanjo was brought out of prison in 1998 by Abdulsalami Abubakar, was not ready to lead a country but eventually became Nigeria’s President: 1999-2007.
