Outrage as Gov. Yahaya Bello commissions his new mansion amid unpaid salaries to Kogi workers (Photos)

There is outrage on social media as photos emerged of a state-of-the-art building belonging to the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

The state governor completed and commissioned the mansion, which is located along Mahmoud Atta street, GRA in Okene.

The house warming attracted dignitaries including Abdul Rahman Ado Ibrahim, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, while an insider was quoted to have described the mansion as “a thing of beauty.”

The house commissioning comes at a time in the state when workers are groaning following many months of unpaid salary and other allowances.

In October, a director with the state civil service committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree for reportedly not being able to meet his family’s financial needs after being owed 11 months’ salary arrears.

The deceased, Edward Soje, a Grade Level 16 Officer in the Kogi State Teaching Service Commission, who hails from Ogori town in Ogori -Magongo Local Government area of the state, took his life barely 10 days after his wife of 17 years gave birth to a set of male triplets in a private hospital in Abuja – with the couple reported to have been childless before then.

As expected, Nigerians are unhappy following the house commissioning and they took to social media to vent their anger.
