Alexis Sanchez in Manchester United for medical

Alexis Sanchez has signed for Manchester United after agreeing terms on his new contract, according to the Daily Mail.

The Chilean forward, who will earn £450,000 per week at Old Trafford, will complete his medical on Saturday evening and be revealed as a new signing shortly afterwards.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will travel in the other direction, with Arsenal bagging the former Borussia Dortmund player in addition to £35 million for Sanchez.

Following their respective Premier League victories on Saturday afternoon, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and his Manchester United counterpart, Jose Mourinho were quizzed on the progress of the deal.

Wenger made clear that a deal was close with the Frenchman confirming that the Chilean forward was on his way to Carrington for a Manchester United medical.

"Why was he [Sanchez] not involved today? You can't drive up north and play football as well," he explained.

"Alexis will only go to United if Mkhitaryan comes here, that will be decided in the next 48 hours maximum.

"If you want to bet, then I would put a few pounds on it happening."

Mourinho stated that he believes Sanchez to be close to arriving at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach said: "If you ask me if Alexis is coming, I think he is, but I have no confirmation," he admitted in his post-match press conference.

"It will be soon or never, for better or worse I believe something will happen soon.

"It's close. So close. I know that the club is doing everything possible and I think we'll be successful."

Also Borussia Dortmund have confirmed Arsenal have made a first official offer for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Goal reports that the Gabonese striker has already agreed personal terms to move to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window, with Olivier Giroud tipped to head in the opposite direction.

The Gunners have now made their first bid for the Gabon striker, although Dortmund have not specified the amount following reports in Kicker that the bid was €50 million .
