'Drama in National Assembly after Sen. Olujumi orders aide to slap Parliamentary Staff and he retaliated on the senator'

Some workers at the national assembly created a scene on Monday, after Biodun Olujimi, senator representing Ekiti south, allegedly asked her aide to assault a member of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

TheCable reports that lawmaker was irked by the decision of the PASAN member to ride in an elevator with her.

The senator was on her way to the public hearing of the senate committee on petroleum downstream, investigating the N5 trillion subsidy allegedly paid to the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC).

Olujimi was said to have ordered her aide to slap the official whose identity was not revealed.

The national assembly staff immediately told members of PASAN who were holding a congress on the second floor of the new wing of the senate.

This caused an outrage as his colleagues stormed out of the congress in a bid to attack the lawmaker, who was scuttled to safety by her security guards.

“From today, I will start entering lift with senators. No senator will ever push me out,” a national assembly staff said in anger.

However, according to another online report, trouble started when the staff of National Assembly and Senator Olujumi rode the same elevator this afternoon, when the senator noticed that she is in the same lift with a common staff of National Assembly, she demanded to know what the man is doing inside the elevator with her.

When the man could not give satisfactory explanation, the angry senator directed her aide to slap the hell out of the erring official who did not know that he is not meant to use the lift reserved for senators.

However the National Assembly staff retaliated back by landing the senator a hot slap.

Mrs. Olujimi left the elevator and challenged the National Assembly staff who nearly beat her up.

Her saving grace was the intervention of National Assembly security officials who rescued her from the embarrassment.

According to the report, the National Assembly staff refused to apologize to the senator.

In a chat with some journalists after the incident, the angry Senator Abiodun has vowed to take up the case with the National Assembly security and in her words, the man must be sacked and charge to court for assault on her.
