Oby Ezekwesili, Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri, other Nigerians react as Buhari confirms he will seek re-election

Former ministers, Oby Ezekwesili, Femi Fani-Kayode, former presidential aide Reno Omokri and other Nigerians have reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration of his ambition to seek a second term in office come 2019.

In a tweet, Ezekwesili wrote: “Reading the Breaking News that our President will be seeking reelection in 2019, I remembered the story of the “Ejionu” masquerade.

“Our President had not yet recovered from his first journey and here he is UNLIKE the very wise Ejionu, seeking to embark on a second one. Hmmm.

“The nice part of the “Breaking News” is that it is good to formally know that it is directly to @NGRPresident @MBuhari that Nigerian citizens will shortly be handing the APC’s own #RedCardToAPCAndPDP in 2019.

“There was a masquerade which in a burst of Hubris left its own village & strayed into a neighboring town.

“The neighbors gave it the beating of a lifetime, it barely survived.

“Asked some months later if it would go again, it replied:

“I have not recovered from my 1st journey!”.

Fani-Kayode wrote on Twitter:

"@MBuhari has declared his intention to seek for a fresh mandate. He should prepare himself for the biggest demystification in Nigeria's history.A man whose legacy is nothing but blood, death, destruction, corruption, division, conflict, failure and carnage wants to run.He will FAIL!"

Reno Omokri compared Buhari’s chances of being re-elected to the height of Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

According to him, Buhari has treated Nigerians as ‘fools’ by declaring his bid for second term despite the inability of his supporters to list projects initiated and completed by the current administration.

Omokri wrote on Twitter, “It is a good thing that it was @Elrufai who announced President @MBuhari’s second term because his chances of re-election is as tall as El-Rufai.

“A man whose supporters can’t declare one thing he has initiated and completed has declared us all fools by this 2nd term declaration.”

Meanwhile, Social media came alive with varying reactions after President Buhari finally confirmed he will stand for re-election in next year’s election.

While oome Nigerians expressed their delight over Buhari’s declaration, many others did not welcome the development.
