Historic moments and details from Donald Trump & Kim Jong Un's summit in Singapore

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday described his historic meeting with North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, as “better than anybody could imagine.”

The two men, in Singapore, held the first-ever meeting between leaders of their two countries to try to end seven decades of hostility and the threat of a nuclear confrontation.

Shortly after 9 a.m, (Singapore time) Trump and Kim walked toward each other and shook hands before Trump put his hand on Kim’s shoulder.

They then went into their private meeting with only interpreters present, emerging less than an hour later for a second gathering, this time with aides, before they all held a working lunch.

At stake in the meeting is the American goal of ridding North Korea of its nuclear arsenal, Kim’s desire to remove American weapons from the Korean Peninsula and to be recognized as a player on the world stage, and the international desire to ease the North’s provocations, poverty and extreme isolation.

The two leaders signed a document together at the end of their talks which Trump described as very "important" and "pretty comprehensive document."

Here's the historic moments from Donald Trump & Kim Jong Un's summit in photos.
