Nigerian scholar Pius Adesanmi confirmed to be on board crashed Ethiopian Airlines flight

It has been confirmed that at least a Nigerian was among the 157 passengers on the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines flight that crashed on its way to Nairobi, Kenya, on Sunday morning.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying 149 passengers and eight crew members, lost contact with air traffic controllers six minutes after taking off.

It crashed near Bishoftu, southeast of the Ethiopian capital, Ethiopian Airlines said in a statement.

The airline had earlier released list of nationalities who died in the crash, which include 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, eight Americans and seven British nationals were among the passengers.

The Kenyan media has now published names of the country’s 32 citizens involved in the crash, and Nigeria Pius Adesanmi is sadly on the list.

Adesanmi was a Nigeria-born Canadian professor and he flew on a Canadian passport.

The popular columnist and activist teaches at Carlton University in Canada.

He posed with the passport in the last picture he posted on Facebook on Saturday morning.

His last message on Facebook read: “If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me – Psalm 139:9-10.”

Condolence messages has started flooding his Facebook page.
