#AFCON2019: South Africa knocks out Salah's Egypt, qualifies for quarter-final

Mohammed Salah and his Egyptian team are out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after losing to South Africa.

The host nation were defeated 1-0 by the Bafana Bafana in the second knockout match played on Saturday.

The loan goal was scored in the 85th minute by Thembinkosi Lorch and that put the Cairo International Stadium almost in silent mode as the home fans couldn't believe what hit them.

The South Africans were the better team from the get-go, solid in defence and always dangerous in attack.

South Africa, 1998 champions, will now slug it out with three-time African champions, Super Eagles of Nigeria in the quarter-final.
