JAMB releases 2019 UTME results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

1,886,508 candidates sat for the exam in April 2019, but 1,792,719 results were released.

'I f*cked up badly' - Sacked BBC presenter apologises over royal baby chimpanzee tweet

Former BBC presenter Danny Baker, who was sacked over his derogatory tweet about the newly-born British royal baby, has apologised for the offensive post.

He noted that the controversial tweet was a genuine, naive and catastrophic mistake, and admitted that he “fucked up badly.”

Barely 48 hours after assenting to a bill to split Kano emirate into five, the Governor of Kano state Abdullahi Ganduje has appointed four new emirs in the state.

Ganduje’s action is coming few hours after a Kano state high court restrained him from implementing the break up of Kano emirate.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked president of the court of appeal, Zainab Bulkachuwa, to withdraw from the five-member panel of the presidential election petitions tribunal.

Six Nigerians bag jail term in the UK over internet fraud

Six Nigerian citizens based in the United Kingdom have been jailed for their roles in the theft of millions of pounds from businesses and individuals in the UK and abroad.

The Nigerians, related by blood, are Bonaventure Chukwuka, 41; Emmanuel Chukwuka, 27; and Christian Chukwuka 39, Andrew Chukwu, 35; Queen Chukwuka, 32; and Grace Chukwuka, 39.

Appeal Court says CCT breached Onnoghen’s right to fair hearing, dismisses his four appeals

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Friday struck out four appeals filed by ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, in relation to his trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The three-man bench led by Justice Stephen Adah, in the four unanimous judgments, held that three of the appeals had become academic since the trial had been concluded by the CCT.

Sanusi is supposed to report to LG chairman, not governor - Ganduje

Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Friday in Abuja said going by the status of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, as a traditional ruler, he is not qualified to hold talks with the governor but can only discuss with the local government chairman.

Ganduje who made this remark in the conference centre of the Presidential Villa, while answering questions from State House correspondents on why he balkanised the 800-year old Kano Emirate into five smaller units, said he had nothing against Sanusi.

Lawyer sues Buhari over recent ‘private visit’ to the UK

Lagos based human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has filed a suit against President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent private visit to the UK.

According to TheCable, in the suit with number FHC/L/CS/763/2019 filed at the federal high court in Lagos on Thursday, Buhari and Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation are listed as the first and second defendants.

Nigerian Nanny sentenced to 15 years in prison in USA for death of baby She force-fed

A 73-year old Nigerian Nanny has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in Maryland, USA, for force-feeding a baby milk.

Oluremi Adeleye was found guilty of child abuse and second-degree murder after a week-long trial in February, Washington Post reports.

Sanusi’s emirate now covers only 10 of 44 LGAs in Kano

On Wednesday, Kano governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, gave assent to the bill passed by the state house of assembly on breaking up the emirate in the state.

With the development, Kano now has five emirates: Kano, Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi, reducing the domain of emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.
