Nigerian authors Akwaeke Emezi, Oyinkan Braithwaite nominated for UK Women’s Prize for Fiction

Two Nigerian authors, Akwaeke Emezi and Oyinkan Braithwaite has been nominated for UK's Women’s Award for Fiction, alongside 14 others in its 16-book longlist.

The Women’s Award for Fiction which is one of the UK’s most prestigious literary prizes, is an annual literary prize awarded to a female author of any nationality for the best English novel published in the UK during the preceding year.

19-year old Indian girl married at 10 months wants marriage annulled, says “I want to study”

After suffering for 18 long years, a 19-year old Indian girl has finally gathered the courage to approach the court to get her child marriage annulled.

Urma Bishnoi from Jambanagar of Kaparda village of Jodhpur, India was married at 10 months old by her family, to a boy in her village.

American Bible Society tells Employees to abstain from pre-marital Sex or resign


The American Bible Society has asked that its employees abstain permanently from sex outside marriage or resign.

The policy change, which was made in December but was made public by the Religion News Service, asks that employees “believe in and choose to pursue the God of the Bible.”

Anambra government marks Cyprian Iwene-Tansi’s tomb as religious site

Anambra State government has marked the tomb of Blessed Father Cyprian Iwene-Tansi’s in Aguleri as a religious site that would be developed into a major tourist attraction in the state.

Mrs Sally Mbanefo, Commissioner for Indigenous Art Works, Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism in Anambra has said the government was determined to make the tourism industry a revenue spinner for the state, and the tomb is one of the favoured sites.
